The Philippines is on track to meet 60 percent or 21 of the 35 MDG targets by 2015. For the first time, the Global Human Development Report incorporates vulnerability and resilience into its analysis. As the deadline for the MDGs nears, the underlying theme is also relevant for typhoon-prone Philippines, where the dynamic between transient poverty and natural hazard may impact the sustainability of poverty reduction efforts. Many of the MDGs are likely to be met at the national level by 2015, but that success is not final.
