One in three girls in the developing world are married by their eighteenth birthday. Despite being prohibited by international human rights, child marriage continues to be a violation of children’s human rights. This report focuses on the importance of education in preventing child marriages. It follows by discussing the barriers young girls face in attaining education, and the steps that are needed to tackle this issue. Finally, it calls on the support of governments and international organisations to ensure that national legislation prohibits child marriage.
