The effectiveness of policies aimed at reducing gender-based inequalities continues to be undermined by knowledge gaps around the determinants, mechanisms, experiences and outcomes of gender dynamics and discrimination in childhood. In particular, there is a need a better understanding of how gender inequalities are produced, reproduced or challenged during the transition to adulthood, and between the generations.
