This document seems to reposition nutrition more prominently within South Africa’s health system, in particular in regard to maternal and child health. The document begins with a foreword that assets that sound nutrition is a basic human right while highlighting South Africa’s mix of both under- and over-nutrition. The paper then moves to outline the many ways in which poor nutrition plays a role in South Africa’s health outcomes, including driving maternal and child deaths. The strategy then moves to provide an overview of the challenges in implementing previous nutrition strategies before discussing the roadmap itself.
