Over the last decade substantial progress has been made to improve health outcomes in Nepal. However, there is growing recognition that there is a significant equity gap in health service delivery, which deprives some citizens from accessing services that are available to others. By reviewing the current practices and patterns of budget allocation, compared to formula-based allocation, this paper provides food for thought for making resource allocation more efficient and equitable.
